Severa Rech Cassarino

Severa Rech Cassarino Born in Italy, grown in JHB. Studied Fine Arts at Wits University. Headed Education Dept. of the 2nd JHB Biennale. Holds an International Award for Arts & Culture. Has published Child Art Books one of which carries Nelson Mandela’s Foreword. Her work has been showcased in 16 solo shows, both locally and abroad. Her art activities extend from the painted image to the written word. My art embraces various techniques and thematic interests: Still Life to exploded giant flower forms, to iconic embellished heads around the theme of body alteration. I work with oil, acrylic, watercolour and mixed media. Lately I have created digital ‘Totems’ that speak to me in a mesmerizing way. The need to create is a Primal Drive.
